Mumbai suffers from waterlogging due to heavy downpour

Mumbaikars woke up to heavy rains on Friday morning after a prolonged wait. The heavy rainfall caused waterlogging at several places leading to traffic jams. Traffic diversions had to be made because of waterlogging at various parts of the city. In the last five hours, its weather station has recorded an average rainfall of 43.23 mm in the island city, 64.14 mm in eastern suburbs and 78.21 mm in western suburbs. Traffic jam was reported on all major roads, such as the Western Express Highway, Godbunder Road, L.B.S. Marg, S.V. Road, Sion Panvel Highway, Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road and the Eastern Express Highway.

Central Railway services were running 15 to 20 minutes late because of the heavy downpour, while Western Railway services were unaffected. Several stations witnessed overcrowding on both services. Additional security staff were deputed at all stations to control the crowds. Mumbai Police have warned people about the road conditions and told people to reach out to them in case of any help.
